What does the tour involve?

‘This is the room from which I will direct the war’ said Winston Churchill in 1940 whilst deep under the Government buildings of Whitehall. And it is still there. The Churchill War Rooms is in fact a labyrinth of corridors and cubby holes left, extraordinarily, in 1945. A time capsule through which you can experience Britain’s Darkest Hour and Churchill’s role within it. The museum is next door to Big Ben and Westminster, so you can link them all in the same day

What will I see?

The actual Cabinet Room, where Churchill, the government and the Chiefs of Staff worked long hours, made the big decisions that won the War.
A secret room where Churchill made encrypted telephone calls to Washington.
The Map Room. This brings to life the whole museum. Data on the war is visualized via maps that show the scale and horror of the War as well as its direction.
Churchill’s bedroom and where he made some of his most inspiring radio broadcasts
The great man’s velvet ‘onesie’, his favorite brandy and cigars. A letter from Churchill’s wife, Clementine telling him to be nicer to people!
